SIRRIS | CMX R38 | ERide PRO SR
Do I really need the Prickly linkage for this shock to work on my E-Ride Pro?
Yes. The stock linkage will not work because the shock is longer. The Prickly linkage was designed specifically for this new shock for E-Ride Pro SR and 3.0.
Do I need a drop clamp fork if I run the R38 with Prickly linkgage on my E-Ride Pro?
Type of riding, bike modifications, and rider preference will affect the choice to use a drop clamp or not.
All bikes with a 21” front wheel require a drop clamp for tire clearance.
Sirris has tested and tuned with a drop clamp on bikes with 19/18 wheels.
Sirris has not tested and tuned with 19/16 wheels. Our partner athletes racing with 19/16 wheels have been using drop clamps. Running a drop clamp with a 16 inch rear wheel will make the bike more stable at speed but may affect cornering.
Does this R38 shock have more travel than the stock shock or EXT Arma shock that fits E-Ride Pro SR and 3.0?
The rear wheel will have the same amount of travel as stock. The R38 has less travel but our engineers worked with Prickly to change the motion ratio of the rear suspension to keep the same wheel travel.
What is the difference between the R38 shocks for E-Ride Pro SR and 3.0 model?
Both models feature the same design and functionality, with the only differences being the spring rates and clicker settings. The 3.0 model is offered with 80 N/mm (Medium) and 90 N/mm (Heavy) springs, while the SR model is equipped with 90 N/mm (Medium) and 100 N/mm (Heavy) springs.
I bought a CMX fork awhile back, what do I need to know if I buy this new shock and linkage?
The only difference is clicker settings for compression and rebound on the fork.
The original CMX forks were tuned to work with EXT Arma shock, for E-Ride Pro SR and 3.0. You can see all of the clicker settings (new and old) in the OWNER’S GUIDES PDF download. This is under our SERVICE & TECH main navigation link, and also directly available on the SR and 3.0 product pages.

I want to buy this new shock and linkage, and a new CMX fork - what do I need to know when I buy a new CMX fork for E-Ride Pro SR or 3.0?
The CMX forks are now updated with slightly different clicker settings to pair with the new R38 shock. Your fork and shock tune (Medium or Heavy) should match. The biggest question is whether to run the flat clamp or drop clamp version. The answer to that varies based on several factors including wheel size.
The R38 with the Prickly link raises the rear of the bike by 25mm. This increases ground clearance under the bike and tire clearance under the seat, two known issues with the stock bike. Raising the rear of the bike without changing anything in the front will affect the geometry and stance.

If you decide to run a flat clamp now and want to use a drop clamp in the future, the install process is easy.
Does this shock and linkage fit on the E-Ride Pro ok, and do I need to do any frame modifications?
No frame modifications are needed, this is a bolt-on direct fit solution. You must use the Prickly linkage with the R38, the stock E-Ride Pro linkage will not work with the R38.
I have the new long seat version of E-Ride Pro, what modifications are needed?
You need to cut roughly a 3” x 3” window in the plastic piece that goes under the seat to allow room for the R38 reservoir.
Does this new shock and linkage affect bike geometry and stance?
Yes. It raises the rear 25mm. This increases ground clearance under the bike and tire clearance under the seat, two known issues with the stock bike. Raising the rear of the bike without changing anything in the front will affect the geometry and stance. Depending on type of riding, bike modifications, and rider preference you may want to use a drop clamp.
